An Effervescing Elephant
with tiny eyes and great big trunk
once whispered to the tiny ear
the ear of one in fear, you hear
that by next June he'd die, oh yeah!
because the tiger would roam.
The little one said: "Oh my goodness I must stay at home!
and every time I hear a growl
I'll know the tiger's on the prowl
and I'll be really safe, you know
the elephant he told me so."

to zebra, mongoose, and the dirty hippopotamus
who wallowed in the mud and chewed
his spicy hippo-plankton food

con ojos diminutos y gran tronco grande
una vez susurró a la pequeña oreja
el oído de uno con miedo, se oye
que para el próximo junio moriría, oh sí!
porque el tigre vagaría
El pequeño dijo: “¡Oh, Dios mío, debo quedarme en casa!
y cada vez que escucho un gruñido
Sabré que el tigre está al acecho
y estaré muy seguro, ¿sabes?
el elefante que me lo dijo
Todos estaban nerviosos, oh sí!
y el mensaje se difundió
a la cebra, la mangosta y el hipopótamo sucio
que se revolcó en el barro y masticó
su comida picante hippo-plancton
y tendía a ignorar el mundo
prefiriendo examinar un rebaño
de bisonte de agua estúpida, oh sí!
Y toda la jungla se asustó
y corrió todo el día y la noche
pero todo en vano, porque, vees
el tigre vino y dijo: “¿Quién yo?!
Sabes, yo no haría daño a ninguno de los dos
Preferiría algo para masticar
y todos son muy escasos.” ¡Oh sí!
