Chiseled In The Wall

The year was 1965 and I was just eighteen
And I was sent away to the closest thing to hell I’d ever seen
So many boys that were just like me only one thing on our mind
To get back home to the ones we love but some were left behind

They’re unsung hero’s and friends we used to know
Maybe they were just next door or called your house their home
For you and I they gave their life they took that final call

That’s been almost 30 years ago but it seems like yesterday
I guess that’s why I come down here and look through all those names
I know that I can’t bring them back but they live here in my mind
Oh I wish that I could thank them just one time
